One Status for Every Licence

Anjouan has become the default offshore licence for crypto casinos that left Curaçao's old master-licence system, and its public register is the first place a Canadian player can check whether a casino's footer is telling the truth. The register is unusually detailed: each entry names the licensed company, the licence number, the licence type, the issue date, the expiry date and — rarely for an offshore regulator — the domains the licence covers.

There is one field it does not keep up to date. In the copy of the register we downloaded on September 29, 2026, all 1,526 entries carry the status "valid". Yet 339 of them list an expiry date that has already passed, 318 of those for consumer-facing (B2C) casino licences. The oldest expiry still shown as valid is July 18, 2025 — more than fourteen months earlier.

That does not mean 339 casinos are operating without a licence. A renewed licence may appear as a new entry with a new number, the register may lag behind renewals, or the operator may have wound down. What it does mean is that the status word alone proves nothing. The expiry date is the field to read.

One-Year and Two-Year Terms Sit Side by Side

Anjouan licences do not run on a single cycle. Measuring the gap between issue and expiry dates, 884 entries in the register run for one year and 466 for two years; the remaining 176 have irregular terms. A casino that shows a licence issued in 2025 may therefore be due for renewal in 2026 or in 2027, depending on which term it bought — the issue year says nothing on its own.

The renewal calendar is also crowded right now. Among B2C casino licences, expiry dates cluster in the last months of 2026: 78 entries end in September, 89 in October, 104 in November and 69 in December — the busiest four-month stretch in the register. Many of these are one-year licences issued in late 2025, so over the next quarter a large share of the offshore crypto market has to renew within weeks of each other.

The register also exposes how licences are shared. More than half of the entries (787) cover exactly one domain, but 62 cover ten or more, and the largest single entry lists 66 domains. When dozens of casinos sit on one licence, a problem with that licence reaches all of them at once — and a brand switching licensee can quietly move from a single-brand entry to a crowded one.

Renewal Dates for the Anjouan Brands We Track

Seventeen of the crypto casinos in our tracked database trace to an entry in the Anjouan register, either by licence number or by domain. Between them they use ten licences — six brands share one Novatrix SRL entry that lists 66 domains in total. Their listed expiry dates, nearest first — three of them fall between September 29 and November 3, 2026:

Bitcasino's entry is the one to watch first: its listed term ends on the day of our snapshot, and the entry covers bitcasino.io, livecasino.io and sportsbet.io. BC.Game is a different case — the domain already sits on a second, newer entry, so the expiring Twocent licence is not the only one attached to it. We will check both entries again after their dates pass and update the reviews if a renewal does not appear.

How to Check an Anjouan Licence Yourself

The register is public and needs no account. Four checks take a couple of minutes:

  • Search by domain, not by brand name. Casinos trade under names that do not match the company, but the domain column is exact. If the domain you play on is missing, the licence in the footer does not cover it — common with copycat sites.
  • Read the expiry date, not the status. Every entry says "valid". A date in the past means the licence as listed has run out.
  • Match the company name to the footer. The licensee in the register should be the company in the casino's terms. A different name is a question for support before a deposit.
  • Check the enforcement pages. Anjouan publishes separate lists of revoked and suspended licences; those, not the register status, show enforcement.

What It Means for Canadian Players

No Anjouan licence is a Canadian licence. Ontario and Alberta run their own regulated markets, and neither accepts crypto at licensed sites, so a Bitcoin player in Canada is almost always relying on an offshore regulator. That makes the quality of the offshore paper trail the main protection available — and Anjouan's register, for all its gaps, is more useful than most because it names domains.

The practical rule is simple: treat the word "valid" as decoration and the expiry date as the fact. If the date has passed and no newer entry covers the domain, hold off on large deposits and ask support which licence the site operates under. Our casino reviews list each brand's licence number and licensee, and our rating method explains how licensing feeds into the security score.
