The September snapshot

Every month we log the welcome bonus terms at the 51 crypto casinos in our Canadian database: wagering requirement, whether free spins are included, and the minimum deposit needed to claim the offer. The September 2026 pass shows a market that looks generous on the surface but varies enormously underneath it — the gap between the most and least demanding wagering requirement we recorded runs a full 200 percentage points, from a genuinely wager-free offer to a multiplier few players could realistically clear.

Wagering requirements exist so a casino gets some betting activity out of a bonus before it can be cashed out — that's standard practice across the online casino industry generally, not something unique to crypto operators. What varies from one casino to the next is how far the number gets pushed, and that's exactly what this snapshot is built to make comparable across all 51 sites at once, rather than trusting whatever single figure a promotions page chooses to highlight.

We built this snapshot the same way we build every review on this site: by pulling the terms directly from each casino's own bonus or terms-and-conditions page, not from affiliate marketing copy. Where a casino states a range instead of a fixed number, or ties the requirement to specific games, we record the figure as published and note the exception in the individual review rather than smoothing it into a single average.

Reading the wagering requirement

Across the 34 casinos in our database that publish a numeric wagering requirement, here is where the market sits:

Casinos with a stated numeric wagering requirement34 of 51
Median wagering requirement35x the bonus amount

Highest recorded200x

Industry guides to online casino bonuses generally describe somewhere around 20x to 50x as the typical range for a welcome-bonus wagering requirement. Our own median of 35x sits comfortably inside that window — but our range doesn't. A 200x requirement is well outside what most guides treat as normal, and on even a modest bonus it means clearing several thousand dollars of betting volume before a withdrawal is possible, which for most casual players is functionally the same as no bonus at all. The 0x offers at the opposite end are the exception, not the norm, and worth seeking out specifically rather than assumed to exist.

Free spins and minimum deposits

Free spins remain a standard part of the welcome package, and the deposit needed to unlock a bonus stays low across most of the market:

Casinos including free spins in the welcome package38 of 51

Minimum deposit range recorded$0 – $50

A $20 median minimum deposit is a low bar by any measure, and the $0 end of the range covers casinos that credit a no-deposit offer outright, with no funding required to trigger it. That accessibility is part of why headline bonus size can be misleading on its own — a casino can make an offer easy to claim and still attach terms that make it hard to ever withdraw the winnings it produces. The two numbers need to be read together, never separately.

Free spins add a layer worth checking on their own terms. A pack of spins attached to a slot title is only as good as the wagering requirement stamped on whatever it wins — some casinos wager spin winnings at the same multiplier as the deposit match, others apply a separate, often higher, number. The 38-of-51 figure above tells you how common free spins are, not how easy the winnings from them are to withdraw.

Two notes on how this snapshot was built. The wagering multiples, minimum deposits and free-spin counts are read off each operator’s own bonus-terms page rather than off a promotions banner, because the two routinely disagree — the banner advertises the headline percentage and the terms page carries the multiple that decides what it is worth. And the licence attached to every brand in the set is checked against the register of the regulator named in its footer; for the largest group in our catalogue that means the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s online-gaming section, which publishes both the register and the rules introduced with the island’s gambling act. A bonus is only as good as the operator standing behind it, which is why the two checks travel together.

The same figures, brand by brand rather than in aggregate, sit in our review library; the standing comparison table lives on the bonus guide, and the cashier side of the same terms — minimums, methods and stated payout windows — is covered on payment methods and withdrawal speed.

What it means for players

Headline bonus size is the least useful number on a promotions page. Two casinos can advertise the same match percentage and produce completely different real-world value once wagering requirements are factored in — a 100% match at 20x wagering clears faster and pays out more reliably than a 200% match at 150x. We score wagering terms as one of the six factors in our own rating methodology precisely because the advertised size of an offer says very little on its own about what a player will actually be able to withdraw.

  • Check the wagering multiplier first — treat anything at or above 100x as a figure to read the fine print on.
  • Confirm whether free spins carry their own separate wagering requirement from the deposit match.
  • Note the minimum deposit only after the wagering terms are settled — it's the smaller decision of the two.
  • Re-check terms before claiming — operators revise wagering requirements between our monthly passes.

None of that requires trusting marketing copy. Every figure in this snapshot came from each casino's own published terms as of September 2026, and we re-check the full list of 51 monthly rather than relying on a single audit. Our bonus comparison page lists current terms across the casinos in our database, and how we rate explains how bonus terms factor into each casino's overall score.
